#THM

Music education built on authorship, not imitation. Every student creates music before they've learned to call themselves a musician.

About Us

Our Mission

Treehouse Music is a community-rooted music education initiative based in Southern California. We started with a simple belief: kids shouldn't have to earn access to music, and once they have it, they shouldn't have to learn someone else's version of it first. Every class centers on collaboration and creative self-expression, so students build a real relationship with music on their own terms, not a technique checklist. We believe music is more than a subject. It's a pathway to human connection, identity, and self-worth. From improv music circles in public libraries to songwriting clubs in after-school programs, Treehouse Music helps students from all backgrounds discover the power of creative expression in a safe environment. Since launching, we've partnered with schools, libraries, and community organizations across Los Angeles County, including Pasadena Public Library, Catholic Charities of Los Angeles, and The Academy Project, to bring the power of music into everyday spaces.

Our Founder

Marwan Nassar first picked up a guitar as a kid and discovered more than just music. He found a sense of identity and a safe space to grow. Access, however, didn't come easily; he didn't have the chance to study music until high school. Looking back, he wished he had access to music earlier, because of how deeply it shaped the person he became. That spark eventually carried him from classrooms to stages at SXSW, international festivals, Filipino national TV, and collaborations with GRAMMY-winning artists. Along the way, Marwan became a credentialed music educator, committed to giving students the kind of opportunities he once longed for himself.

Treehouse Music was born from that belief: that music changes lives. Today, Marwan's vision is to partner with schools and community organizations so that more students, no matter their background, can experience the same growth, connection, and space for self-expression that music gave him.

"He is super amazing and a great teacher. Within just a few months, I've learn the true beauty of music and I've become so passionate about music. He would stay after school with me and a few other students just to teach us how to play a guitar. I am truly grateful."

Treehouse Strings

Treehouse Strings puts a ukulele or guitar in a student's hands and builds outward from there. Students learn chords, melodies, and how to play alongside each other, but the goal isn't technique for its own sake. It's ownership. Every student leaves having shaped their own sound, not followed someone else's lesson plan. Skills built: self-discipline, persistence, fine motor coordination, active listening, ensemble collaboration, math patterning, and cultural literacy. Culminates in: a group performance for peers and family.
